Since ancient Greece was famous of artists, yellow, red and blue were the most used colours when it comes to decorating the temples.
Nevertheless, they did’t call the sea blue, but as Homer described it was called to be the colour of wine. And the sky…? The colour of iron and copper.
The ancient people when speaking of colours were referring to the emotions related to them for example thinking blue and describing it as clear and shiny. However, most often as light or dark.
On the greek murals blue pigments can be seen as they were familiar with lapis lazuli as well as with natural indigo, imported from India and sourced from the the leaves of Indigo plant.
